Koinobori (Flying Carp)
In Japan, these highly colorful windsocks are traditionally flown from poles and kite lines during the annual Boy's Festival. On the fifth day of the fifth month, households with boys fly the carp, a particularly hardy fish that annually battles upstream against overwhelming odds, a different size koinobori for each sized boy!
